Maple Leaves

      1. Japanese Maples can be genetically very different – shapes, size colors. If a seedling turns out to be unique, growers will cut a young stem off the mature tree and graft it to the base of a young seedling. This preserves the genetic “look and feel” on a new tree. The grafted tree is a cultivar of the original. If commercially viable, multiple nurseries will propagate the cultivar. These are considered “named” cultivars. The most popular are available at your local nursery.
